Description
Explore Cavusin to experience plenty of hiking opportunities to tour churches, chapels, and cave houses dating back centuries. Cavusin is located near Gerome and has The Church of John the Baptist, one of the most ancient churches in the world. With this, many more pre-historic aesthetics exist here which makes it a remarkable living monument of the past.
Present-day Cavusin is divided into two, the old village and the new village.
The new village has a quiet city with modern construction and facilities with a livelihood dependent on tourism and agriculture. The old Greek village of Cavusin is a historical place to visit. With time many parts of the city became deserted as it had come across the destruction of a few cave houses due to the downfall of delicate cliffs. Despite the falls, the place still preserves robust residues of the ancient city for the rest of the world.

November 17, 2022 at 5:42 PMCavusin gives the residents a perspective that most village Turks do not possess. Only a few family trees are needed to give every resident a leaf, the true mark of a village, and yet almost every family has numerous relatives living in Holland and Germany, another quintessential mark of Anatolian villages.

January 19, 2023 at 5:04 PMLocated less than 4 km North of Goreme, Cavusin is an old, quiet, but still typical village of Cappadocia. A huge rock wall is overtopping the village. It collapsed partly in 1963.

January 20, 2023 at 9:55 AMAfter our wanderings through Swords and Rose Valleys on our second day in the Goreme area, we arrived in Cavusin village. It was a lovely quiet village and had some amazing sites to visit. The old village, now abandoned, was all carved into the hillside. I’m not really sure how old the settlement is, but it’s definitely been around for a long, long time.

February 20, 2023 at 8:24 PMNot so great. This place is a little walk but, not much to see here. It was better for us to spend more time in other valleys. The guide was also not cooperative. He didn’t show any interest in guiding us.
